Undelund Tales is a collection of stories created by Tim Harbyns, and these tales are based in and around the fictious nation of Undelund. The genre of these tales includes elements of fantasy (mysterious energies and lurking beasts), a sprinkling of steam-powered things, and a dash of Victorian-era sensibilities.
While some tales include a dusting of magic or the appearance of some ghastly creature or two, the key focus is very much a human one. The central core of each story centres on human nature and explores themes such as: bullying (and other awful forms of abuse), false friendships, cause and effect, and so on.
Born in England in the ancient pre-internet era, Tim Harbyns has always had an imaginative streak since he could hold a crayon, however he left it quite late in life to galvanise his ideas into concrete stories—for the most part, life simply got in the way.
Eventually a decision had to be made to craft stories or, during the years to come, regret not doing so.
With a strong desire to tell some tales, he finally developed the nation of Undelund and brought to life a variety of characters to send them on various adventures.
A few tidbits about the storyteller are:
His favourite film is the original Poltergeist* released in 1982, and a big inspiration in his youth and still to this day, is the late actress Heather O'Rourke* who starred in the three original Poltergeist films and many other productions before her tragic passing.
