Having recently entered a business partnership with a self-titled Exotics Hunter named Tarron Hawkmoor; Elise Mayflower is given her first sweet taste of responsibility.

While Tarron heads out to meet a business acquaintance; Elise is tasked with babysitting a bushgreave for the next thirty-six hours. Fortunately, she doesn't have to travel far to take on her responsibility as the little critter resides in the basement of the building Elise and Tarron share as their business premises and home.

The instructions Tarron has written down for Elise are clear enough; however, when these are accidentally tossed into the kitchen stove's firebox and engulfed by flames before she had a chance to read them, she now has to figure things out for herself.
